Disk drive problem

I can't figure this out. I have a CD R&W Drive and a DVD R&W Drive. Sometimes not always, but when I buy a program and put the disk in. The disk drive won't read them. Then if I try it again the next day it will work. It doesn't matter which drive I put the CD in. They both do the same thing. I went into my hardware manager and tried to update my drive, but it said that I have the latest version and there is no new update. I don't understand why this happens. They have a mind of there own I guess. Any one have any suggestions.

Did u buy the computer or build it yourself?

the drives could be loosley connected, or the jumpers may be wrong *shrug*

Dirty discs? Scratched discs? Loose connections?

I put the drives in myself. I never had any problems until just recently. It's not dirty or scratched disks because they are brand new.
