Never before has a boisterous campaign of civil disobedience – marked by more than 700 arrests – received the kind of warm welcome from a sitting president and his party that President Obama and leading Democrats have accorded the “Occupy Wall Street” movement.

This is interesting:

Quote:
"What they're doing is disgraceful,” King said of the protesters, in an interview with Fox News. “They should be denounced; they're breaking the law; they're serving no real purpose at all….And for the president or anyone else to give them any credence or credibility is also irresponsible.”

I just saw Bloomberg on the news this morning saying that they weren't doing anything illegal.

What I find laughable about this whole thing is that these protesters are causing the NYPD (and presumably every other 'occupied' city) to work overtime to the tune of something like $708,000. I forget if that's per week or per day.

Here in Seattle, the protesters are camping in the park where it is illegal to have a tent. Mayor McGinn has invited them to come to protest at City Hall where it would be legal for them - he is in 100% support of the protest - and they refuse.

Big difference in the medias mind however. The Tea Baggers were seen as patriots and have backing from authorities.
The OWS group (TRUE grass roots citizens) have been unfairly promoted as smelly, hippy, mis-contents.
Sad really.

Soros and the protesters deny any connection. But Reuters did find indirect financial links between Soros and Adbusters, an anti-capitalist group in Canada which started the protests with an inventive marketing campaign aimed at sparking an Arab Spring type uprising against Wall Street. Moreover, Soros and the protesters share some ideological ground.

Great stimulus program. Imagine all the stuff they'll buy with their overtime.

What part of the constitution allows the government to ban tents?

What part of the constitution says the government can interfere with a peaceful assembly just because it happens to involve camping?

I think what she's saying is that they are camping in tents in a public park where there is already an ordinance against tents.

How about if they bring guns and hold shooting matches? Guns are in the constitution too.
