Cliques aren't that big of a deal...

Ok why do people make such a big deal about "cliques"? I mean all it really is, is just people who get along better with certain people. I mean come on! People who like heavy guitars and loud music aren't gonna get along to well with people who find 50 cent interesting. Trust me if I had to hang out with people that thought "rap" and all that was cool I'd have to kill myself. And people whose daddy buys them whatever they want isn't going to want to hang out with the loner girl who has nothing...Face it...it's the way it is. Cliques aren't bad it's just the who certain people have more in common with. If you don't have any friends I can understand why the "Cliques" are such a bad thing to you...Sorry find people with your interest.

The flaw in that is your assuming you'll get along with anyone solely on an
interest or lifestyle. There can be bad people in a clique that suits you well, and
good people in a different clique. I get along with various people, despite our
different interest.

Cliques are fine as long as your in one, cliques have this horrible habit of turning nasty and singling people out, I remember there was a large one, all girls when I was at school and they were the biggest bunch of b****es on the face of the planet, they made alot of people lives hell.

meeting people with your interests is great,but i believe meeting or just talking to occasionally with different views from you may broaden each others knowledge of different life skills,and different religeous beliefs as well as how there country is run and what its like,every body is different and individual whether there in a cliques or not. x

I'm into rock metal and punk primarily but I still listen to anything anyone wants to play me. I figure if i just hung out with people who only liked the same music by the same people and we all just sit around discussing our mutual love of so and so's latest album the conversation is gonna get pretty old real fast. I figure you need the different points of view sometimes.

As to the second poster, I have many friends who share different intrestests, I'm friends with almost anyone, it's personality and how good of a friend you are, not what your music intrests are.
So your saying we can't be friends with anyone who doesn't like metal music? Your saying Cliques aren't that big of a deal, when your saying we should follow it?

Not really, I'm friends with people who listen to Rap/Hip-Hop as well as the 'daddy's girls' and 'loners', so just assuming that people who listen to a sort of music will not get along with someone who likes a different genre is wrong. It's good to have friends with similar interests but sometimes 'cliques' can be formed by a mixture of people. Cliques are bad as they mean there are certain social boundaries that make it difficult to overcome in trying to socialise with different sorts of people, whether you have friends or not doesn't really factor into it, it's still hard to try and get to know someone if they're always in a tight-knit group which can be quite intimidating at times. By having cliques it just means that it's difficult for people to talk to and socialise with different types of people, which often leads to judgements being made about certain cliques and some animosity. So although some may find cliques a good thing as it keeps everyone in their respective 'boxes,' it's hardly the best thing in the world for people who want to be friends with a mixture if people.

Ok let me restate somethings. I know for an example I had people who have interest in music...yea that was a poor example. I hang out with everyone all different types. But that's just me. All I am saying is if people don't want hang out with a certain type of person...oh well that's just to bad. I don't say that to be man I'm just saying, cliques aren't bad.

Cliques are that big of a deal because they put people in little boxes and people shouldn't be in boxes. It's just like all the stupid labels that psychiatrists want to put on you if you display a certain behavior - the world needs less boxes and more freedom.
However, regardless of what I think cliques are always going to exist. The sad thing about them is that your either in or out. If you try to hard your called a poser and if you don't try enough, people assume you've lost interest. If your in a clique and suddenly have an individual thought or opinion, people may say that your a trator and kick you out of their circle. They say your a trator for thinking for yourself, for discovering who you really are, for having likes different to their own. I was never really in a clique but I saw this happen to lots of people who were. It's just stupid.

I have an idea how about everyone just give everyone one big hug and tell them they love them??? lol
