Have gone up to $18 (approx $14 USD) for a thiry pack and $12 (approx $9 USD) for a twenty pack here in New Zealand today.

Well just think, you'll be healthier when you can't afford to smoke so much. Grumpy but healthy.

Incidentally, I had a weird moment when a complulsive gambler told me that smoking was a waste of money

Did the calculation, you guys are paying a little bit more than what we just started paying for them.

This whole "We need someone to be prejudiced towards so let's all be prejudiced towards the smokers" thing has got to stop.

There's no reason for cigs to be taxed this high.

My physical health will improve but what is left of my mental health will go right into the dumper.

There's no reason for cigs to be taxed this high.

A few cheap brands have started charging less, but taking one smoke out the box. They find ways around it, but it is a tax cash cow

I say make marijuana legal and manufacture and tax THAT instead. Kids are already paying a pretty penny for a bag of weed anyway.

You're still smoking strong then. Today I had to make the decision to drop from a thirty pack to a twenty pack daily.

I wonder what they're going to tax once all smokers have quit?
