That's terrifying, and I think it's obviously unconstitutional.

I don't know why they don't do what Kansas did, require employers to verify citizenship before hiring, and enforce a penalty for those who don't, including a revokation of their business license.

Arizona passed strict laws a couple of years ago the if any business owner is busted employing illegals they will face very stiff fines . The fines are stiff enough that a large number of illegals were fired and had to return to their homes towns across the border. The law went into effect on the Jan. 1 of that year . The story of a delegate of 3 from one of them home towns was over in Arizona telling the state law makers they had to change that law because it wasn't fair to expect the Mexican Government to
deal with the problems caused by the lost income that the illegals had been sending back to their home towns . The delegate really was angry and demanding the Arizona government to change the laws because it put them ( the Mexicans in a bind because all their citizens were home and no money was rolling in anymore.

Didn't Governor Richardson recently order stepped-up border patrol in NM?

(They never ask for my ID when going through the checkpoint from El Paso to Las Cruces; maybe its the blonde hair and green eyes )

I've known a couple who lived here legally.. but they really longed for clean, law abiding cities, and government run health care, so they've pretty much gone back..

Still, this Arizona thing.. Just how many white people are going to be stopped and checked?

How much of the illegal population is white? Or should they stop whitie just for the sake of stopping him? lol

I thought he got lost and forgot where N.Mex. is located, you mean he was actually inside the border of N.Mex.? Wow.

What ever he pretended to do as far as stepping up the BP , Is as effective as a drip of water in the Rio Grande river. But no surprise there , he will do some 'drip' thing on his way out of the state while yacking loud enough about his drip job to get buckets of media attention .

Do you know what the illegals are doing while them cops are looking at our blond hair and green eyes? their 'anchor baby' cousins are letting them out a mile before the check point and then picking them up a couple of miles beyond the check point.

I've always had to fill out an I-9 form before I was hired. I've always wondered how illegal immigrants do things like....get a driver's license, get welfare, rent an apartment (or RV space).

Most businesses do comply with the law as far as that goes. But some businesses routinely hire illegal immigrants because they're cheaper on a number of levels. Lower hourly wage, paid under the table, etc. The Kansas law attempts to crack down on those employers. It worked so well in Kansas there was a notable shift in their local economy when the law took effect as thousands of illegal immigrants left the state.

I can understand all those reasons, but how do they get through government programs to get welfare and such? It boggles my mind. I have to have a valid social security card and be able to prove my citizenship to do any such thing. Why don't they?

If they don't then certainly you don't. Do you think their standard application forms change depending on who's filling them out?

No. And that's why I wonder how they get around it. Am I being too confusing?

they lie , using false identification with the help of others , if necessary.
florida employers , including farmers , hire illegals because it's cheap labor , illegal immigration laws are weakly enforced , fines aren't big enough , and local enforcement turns a blind eye , pretending the employers shouldn't be responsible for verifying id that turns out false.
i wish grady judd , our sheriff , would be more like arpaio with illegal immigrants of any race or nationality , though i suspect monied interests in his own party would try to oust him from office.

That bill is really bad. Just about every law proposed in it is ineffectual posing.

So,... the remedy to that would be a lot of effectual posing?

Nice Well I have to say I never met any Canadians..oh wait we had a contractor here for awhile I rather liked and she was Canadian, but she lived in FL with her boyfriend. She'd fly up every week.
I guess if I was moving from Canada, I would go to a warmer state than here

Yes, the law is very bad. Arizonians just lost a major portion of their freedom if law enforcement can force someone walking along a sidewalk to stop, provide acceptable ID, otherwise go to jail or pay a fine.

I support a national ID system. But, I do not support a law that forces citizens to carry ID. That's hard core socialist/fascist behavior.

I think it's okay for law enforcement to require an arrested person to prove citizenship, since law enforcement has already met the 'probable cause' minimum. That's fine. I have no problem with that.

Yet, we live in a free country that does not require citizens to carry ID while they are performing non-licensed activities.
