Noticing that too many poor and middle class patients were opting to self diagnose and medicate rather than pay to visit a doctor...the Obama Administration got the EPA to declare over-the-counter rescue inhalers used by asthmatics to be in violation of some clean air law.
Starting 1 December 2011 products like Primatene Mist will be banned in the US. Millions of inhaler users will be forced to pay for a pointless trip to the doctor and purchase a much more expensive perscription inhaler.
No point in running out to stock up. Walmart and CVS took them all off the shelves a couple months ago.
Oh yeah, let's knee-jerk react to tying this to Health Reform. The determination was made in the 90's- the time line to have the CFC out of medicine just happens to be the end of 2011..... and guess who just happens to be President?
The CFC propellant is only one concern. The other is the use for making Meth. You can still get it over the counter and there is pill forms available.
