I know beng in the food industry I should know this but I really don't order food ahead of time since I order only what I need from one week to the next , so I was wondering if anyone knows how long you can keep meat frozen before you eat it. I know that it's frozen but I still think I rad somewhere that like a month or so is as long as it's safe for it to be in the freezer.

Anybody?

u can keep it longer than that, jsut dont thaw it and refreeze it cause then it'll spoil, but u can keep it for like 6 months, it might get freezer burned but it wont get u sick.

I used to work in an Italian restaurant, and their minced meat for the bolognese sauce and ravioli are frozen. What my chef once explained is that meat can be kept frozen up to 8 weeks (or slightly more) - but it will lose some of its 'flavour'.

However, when it comes to 'chunky' pieces (those that are used for steak and the likes) - after a month, it will be drained of its juices - and it will have that 'iron' aftertaste. Shorter cooking time may fool the general masses, but a meat person will definitely send it back.

I don't know how reliable this info is - he's a pretty crazy Italiano who prefers Chinese food over pasta anyday.

I got one of those and I did wrap each package of meat so that's a good thing I guess. I went to sams today and they had ground beef for 89 cents a pound and pork chops for 1.09 a pound those are really good prices for my area.

I try to cut corners and save money whereevr I can but I'm thinking I may have over done it a wee bit. I bought 50 pounds of hamburger meat and 50 pounds of pork chops, I can use some of it at the rest. though, but I have to keep D. away from the freezer if he sees all that meat he'll s*** a sqealing worm a mile long. He says I do nothing on a small scale and I guess he's right.
