1. If Mary Magdalene is (was?) in the picture, then there would only be 11 disciples - so where did the other one go?

Off to order pizza?
Bending down to pick a fork he dropped?
...or painting the scene?

2. There aren't any cups, chalice, or grail - so what were they drinking?

I know that I can hardly finish a meal without at least some liquid to help me through... but then again, this painting was in a very very bad state (perhaps was even destroyed in the fire) - and restored. Perhaps the cover-up / truth lies in the restoration work?

3. If you look carefully under a magnifying glass, there is an extra 'hand'.

Maradona's reference to 'hand of God', maybe?

If only the dead could talk.

1. I think that "Mary Magdalene" is actually one of the disciples, not sure what his name is, but back then the young men often looked very feminine. Also, there is only 11 disciples because I don't think Judas was included.

2. The grail was passed around the table after it was blessed by Jesus, so it could be anywhere in the table.

3. What hand are you talking about?

1) Can you be a diciple and a wife? Watching the son of god hacking up phlem in the morning would add an interesting spin on religion and one most could do with.

2) Cup bearers, or rather bowl bearers for this time. Like the King of Kings would have time to pick up his own bowl.

3) Buggered in I know, the best I can come up with is the Adams family was visiting. Or the original commision for the wall envisaged it to be longer.
