i think, the firewall, that is built into windows should be sufficient enough.
No need for an extra firewall program.

And for antivirus i use the microsoft solution.
Its free and it doesn?t bother me with false alarms.

I use both AVG free and Comodo Internet Security

Norton and McCrappy are nothing more than overrated bloatware.

A great place to get the latest and greatest plus archived older versions of software (my favorite site) is filehippo

I long ago moved away from AVG. BitDefender was my new favorite, then Avira. Now it's Microsoft Security Essentials. No nagging, little to no performance hit. It just works.

Avg has lost its touch with its recent upgrade.. it has become far too bloated as time has gone on. While it still works, there are quite simply better ones on the market.

Comodo and Avira are good ones to consider at the present moment.

@Robb Said

Ok, I have eTrust anti-virus at the moment but that is utter s***. So I have decided to change but I want to know which is the best anti-virus software that I can get to protect my computer.

System Suite Professional by VCOM.

I have never had any viruses under this thing's protection.

This isn't exclusively anti-virus. But also has other PC maintenance type software in the bundle.

Avast...really, these days, there is no point in investing in anti-virus with the amount of actual free ones out there and a tech guy will tell you the same thing.

Well...I suppose, if you tend to go to "bad" sites, the full version (paid) version of a software would be better than the free version.

Avast is pretty good, never had problems with it.

I use Avast in combination with Malawarebytes and have never had a problem.
