I used to like Norton but over the last 2 minutes i just had a total change of heart. I think it was because of all the advice the experts on the last thread were giving me about Norton. So i've deleted Norton off my Pc and am getting the anti spyware kits they recomended.

I'm glad you're now starting to take the advice of actual computer security professionals and experts, as opposed to magazines whose publication is largely funded by corporations such as Norton.

Norton misses a lot of stuff. What you see may not be viruses but malicious code in the form of spy-ware that can download viruses. Some of it can't be removed by an anti-virus program alone which is really annoying. Some of the better programs are not really user friendly unless you can easily recognize win32 files from a list of file handles. Programs like Hijack This help but the results can look like a jumbled mess of alien-speak for those unfamiliar.

The really annoying part is you really don't have to go to a dirty website to get a virus. You can get them simply by logging on. Adobe and Java can provide easily exploded holes into your PC. Since their updates are separate from Windows you may not get an update reminder in time.

Aside from being highly resource intensive, not as good as other programs at detecting malware, and difficult to uninstall, it's the best.
