Media blows it links wrong Lanza to shooting!

Pretty damn sad all the way around. Now with instant tech we will see more & more innocent people facing pitchforks & torches spurred on by the media.
Or as he put it.

In their defense, the shooter had his brothers identification on him when his body was found. That led police to search the wrong brothers apartment..

All of the thousands of news agencies try to be the first to report something. It's gotten to the point that they blurt out s*** before they have even bothered to factcheck.

Well it's sad for sure that this happened to the brother. But it's just another hateful, and clearly calculated event, in the chain of planning this troubled person carried out.
Obviously, he wanted to destroy his brother's life - if only for a few hours.
He probably would have killed him too if he could have. This act was second best to it I suppose.

The level of calculation and planning involved, makes these events all the more chilling.

What is sad is that the media has gone too far. They have taken the motto of the public's right to know to trying to outdo each other with who gets the info first that they do not care if they identify the wrong person. They do not care as long as they get the scoop first. Also, is it just me but WTF with them interviewing children involved in this!!!!

It's not just you. It's clear where their true interests lye, isn't it? And it's not for the welfare of the victims.
Disgusting.

The press/media has never been there to serve us as the audience, nor the target de jour, whatever or whomever that may be in every case scenario, it's always been about them, their job criteria and the overall ratings which bring huge promotion and bonuses.

But the curious side of it was that, easily, the principal knew the suspect's mother quite well. Further to this the evidence that he would let him in to the school was suspected by the other staff there. Of course, it's not true. The principle did nothing of the kind. He may have done the mother the favour for her working there, and she was that way a mean old lady supported by a basically stodgy and cold management of the school. The mean supported the mean, and the joker went wild.

what i don't get? is the "cold calculation", "self promotion", no tact, no compassion, just plain old: "I gotta get the big story"..

and these people can live with themselves - even though they've made a mistake..

i'm sure they just said to themselves: "OOOPs! okay, NEXT!"
