I agree. but I'm sure the after math and the in family fighting over who gets what and then the employees and vultures lawyers coming in for their bite. It will be a long time if ever that the loved ones get to deal with the grief .

And that's the bigger tragedy than her death

I will admit that I am always surprised when someone like a celebrity passes away and their estates aren't in order.
It just seems like that would be something they would deal with .
when my first kid was born i put my affairs in order and have updated the deal as each kid was born , and when one of them passed away and then when I came into a small inheritance , with each grandchild born etc,,, ... Some of my close friends and family think I'm way over doing it to keep it all in order , but just how many times does a person need to be reminded that no one knows when something comes along and boom your out of time . May be that's why I'm always so surprised. those people have millions in cash and several homes and income will be coming in for years to come.
It boggles the mind to think about trying to untangle a mess like thay all the whlie dealing with the fighting. . Damn

Why be surprised? Who wants to deal with their own mortality?

It was evasive action, OP could have called for the thread to be locked up - I was basing my decision on the 6 years experience on how these things go. Those genuinely upset about it will not like that its being debated in the "tribute" thread. OK so it wasn't really officially called a tribute thread but it was the one merged and featured.

Often our decisions seem to be off kilter or for no good reason but that is where you just have to trust us really to try and keep the direction of threads going in the right way and when to open up a new one.

I hope this explains my decision to you.

I've PM'd you but want to say thankyou. I do trust you guys

When it comes to death, be it a celebrity or a friend, I am not sure how to feel honestly. I've watched celebrities come and go and I've watched some of my friends die as well. When it comes to such situations, I tend to analyse why I feel what I feel. Sometimes I feel that it is culture that programs me to be sad. This may sound bizarre, but I try to separate nurture from nature.

When a person dies, what happens? Some people believe they go off to heaven and some believe that they just stop existing. Cultures around the world have different ways of looking at death as well as some cultures which are now extinct. The ancient nordic tribes celebrated the death of their fallen war comrades because they were very strong in their belief that they would meet, drink and fight again in the halls of Valhalla until the day of Ragnarok

In South American, the Dia del la Muerte (Day of the dead) is a celebration of those who have passed. The Irish culture holds Wakes which are celebratory. Even Atheists who refute god tend to feel that if a person dies, they are now immune to the suffering of life, therefore a null point is better than the torment of life. With these different thoughts, I tend to wonder, what exactly am I supposed to be sad about if all these cultures find it something to rejoice in?

Perhaps, in my own mind, what I feel is that I am not mourning the loss of the person, rather I am sad that the person's life can no longer contribute their little bit of wonder to a world that is so filled with peculiarities and interesting things. The voice of Mrs. Houston, or the talent of Ledger, or Murphey, or the grace of the "People's Princess" Diana... the loss of the contribution they might have offered is the sadness. I do not think I am sad about what they feel, rather my sadness is for me to deal with that loss. There is no loss for a person who is now dead. Why are not feeling anything or they are feeling joy in the "afterlife" if that is where they went. I feel sad for those left behind, not for the ones that got away.

Thats my 2 cents

Well sure , of course . it's so much nicer to just leave your family in the lurch. How perfectly loving and wonderfully caring to decide that your loved ones aren't worthy of your care and consideration of their feelings and well being. Lets just party on .....

When trying to come to terms with the loss of a loved one and searching for some way to understand and deal with the intense emotional pain and emptiness left in 'your ' world , confusion , denial , a bit of anger are all part of the grieving process. all your questions and searching for info on all the different ways death has been dealt with is perfectly natural.

I used to do trust and estate work, and we had a lot of high priced clients. It is astonishing how many people who have a lot of money and assets don't take the time to put their affairs in order. They always assume they'll have time to worry about it later, be they a celebrity or not. The more money someone has, whether they've done estate planning or not, the more likely their family is to fight over what they had. Families will say they weren't in their right mind or that the attorney who drafted their documents tricked them into doing things a certain way. It's insane and sad. I've seen so many families torn apart by fighting over things that really don't matter in the long run.

My hubby works for a guy who's dad was a rancher , it is a fair size place and two grown kids. The dad sat both 'kids', hubby's boss is 59 and the little sister is 48,, anyways the three of them sat down and divided it all up to their satisfaction. Oh so it seemed. The dad lived a few more years . It turns out that for the few years dad was still alive and kicking , baby sis and her hubby had been getting high interest loans from just about any one who would let then\m walk though the door. and off to the casinos they went with their loan money's. Not long after dad is laid to rest big brother finds himself in a hell of a legal fight over his part of the ranch , his half of the livestock just everything down to the house hold items and tool boxes. What happened of course was as soon as the sisters name landed on the paperwork everyone with a lean against it tried to collect , it was first come first severed, and not many got their fingers into the pie and it was gone. sister and hubby got twisted and mad at brother because the stingy a** had taken more then his fair share ,,, you get the picture.
For three years this went on lawyer bills the stress fighting .. Just last week he finally settled. He had a good lawyer and has a good head for business. he wound up giving sister half of one of the smaller pastures and 30 head of dry cows. meaning they aren't nursing nor pregnant. the half of the pasture he signed over is the half with no water .and he hired a crew almost before the ink was dry , to build a fence down the middle of the pasture sending a bill for half of all expense's for that fence to his baby sister.

It has been a real messy fight and expensive as hell for him to keep at least the bigger portion of what is rightfully his to begin with. the whole while the sister would show up in church crying and asking for prayers to keep her brother from stealing her inheritance and robbing her of her rightful blah blah ...

it could have been happening 'any street calf. USA ' the entire estate was worth something like 4 million when dad was still working it.

it's so weird that hubby's boss had all his t's crossed the i's dotted ,,, but still had to fight off the lawsuit .
some f***ed up laws .and the dirty lawyers that care nothing for justic or fairness when they hear the cha ching of money .

Don't they all pretty much show the same stuff ?

I can't remember the last time I seen any TV show , so when I say playing the devils advocate I really mean that. I can't say one way or another the if I had reception whether I'd be the same way , glued to the thing or not. The option isn't available to me so I don't have to make the choice.

Here is perfect example of what I was talking about, I am still feeling gross for seeing a bit of it.

I had my tv on news but was busy doing a few things and not could fully hear or see what they were talking about. I bring in my plate to sit down and eat and watch news and I see a bath tub with water in it and some stuff in the tub. I have no idea what its about then I realize its a segment from TMZ, they were showing actual pics of the tub Ms. Houston was found in, shortly after peremedics took her out to do CPR on her.

I stopped watching and tried to tune it out as I looked for the remote. I did not see the next pics but could hear it, they even had pics or video of food she ate before she took her bath, what was left of her meal, in the hotel room.

Tacky as all get out, if you ask me.

I wonder who took those pics and/or video and what would possess them to sell it to TMZ. I realize money but my God.

The word tacky seems like an understatement but I can't think of a better one .
It's hard to try and imagine just what type of person would care what she had eaten or what the tub looked like .
This type of media reporting brings begs the question , Does society really demand this type of info or does the media supply it in hopes of generating a demand for more of the same?

From what I understand, the only people in the room were police, hotel management, paramedics and one of her "people" as one of her "people" found her. I could be wrong but if this is the case, it certainly begs the question, which one of these people sold the photos.

Its one thing if some random person took the photo and sold it, that is tacky enough, but to know someone in a position of authority or one of those close to her and whom was suppose to care about her, took it and sold it, even more tacky if you ask me.

As for your question, I have no idea who would want to see that bathtub picture. I certainly did not want to see it, thus my looking for the remote once I realized what they were showing. There are some sick f***ers out there but also, the media tries to out do each other for ratings and think if they get some exclusive photos, even if sick ones, they will get the ratings.

Hey , "Dorkysupergirl" where is the hoppy's post about 'damn... but you are full of s*** " I got the message.

On the Beach famous movie of the sixties. It played and played continous renditions of Waltzing Matilda, as isolated Aussies all sat around in desperate fear waiting for the final fallout of the Atom Bomb to reach Australia.

Happy return to the Cold War, and may God scare all into action.

I know it is not people like you that would want to see photos like that.
I'll bet it was probably hotel management that took and sold the photo's.
