I just turned 40 a couple weeks ago and for the past few years whenever I get drunk I get very sick the next day...not just a hangover feeling but almost like im dying sick. Alcohol never used to affect me this way, it's really weird. I'm wondering if I'm developing an allergy to alcohol. Has anyone else had experiences like mine?

Likewise.

I think it would be worth getting a liver scan if you're really worried about it, if you're being ill a lot after drinking then it suggests that your liver doesn't like having to deal with it.

Age, alcohol and hangovers do not mix. My hangovers have been getting more severe since I was in my late 20s/early 30s. Drinking higher quality alcohol helps but doesn't solve it entirely. Best bet is just drinking less or not drinking at all.

You could be allergic to it. What do you drink? Be careful if you're taking any medication and never mix alcohol.

"Liquor before beer, never fear. Beer before liquor, never sicker."

I try not to ever drink more than one thing at a time. If you get that sick, please go to the ER. You could die of alcohol poisoning. Also, your stomach may be sensitive to alcohol. At one time, I drank whiskey straight out of the bottle. My tolerance isn't like it used to be. I drink beer occasionally and I never get sick if I drink too much.

My ex-sister in law used to get so sick that she couldn't breathe.

The first time it happened I called and spoke to a doctor and nurse about why this was happening and was told that she had probably drank much more than usual and likely a touch of alcohol poisoning so I was told to give her 'little' sips of water to rehydrate and when she could take bigger sips add a gravol to it until she was drinking a whole glass of water every time she woke up.

Age really has nothing to do with anything. It's the amount, how fast you are drinking and what you're drinking that decides how it will affect you.

If you haven't drunk (sp) that much in years, yes it will affect you really bad.
