There is no question that the Neanderthals were very homely.
But they were the most successful species of homo that ever lived. They lived for 150,000 years,whilst our species is barely 100,000 years old right now! Their brain size was slightly larger than ours,dispelling the myth that they were
stupid brutes. Their method of hunting was brutal and dangerous to them,and most of the male neanderthal bones that have been found show evidence of having been fractured.
They hunted by stealth,then running up to the animal and thrusting their spears into the animal,they were thrown around,because it is thought they held onto the spears and wrestled the beast to the ground.
I've heard they couldn't really throw well because of their shoulder socket. I've heard this put them at a disadvantage when confronting other preditors of the day. The earliest wrestlers?
I've heard red hair and freckles are a trait given us by these early possible contributors.
