I hate it when you try to end a conversation or the converstaion has faded, whether in person, on the net or text, and the other person carries it on.

How do you deal with this? Do you just ignore it/walk away, carry it on, tell the person or something else?

I make my replies shorter and shorter until I'm monosyllabic then I fall asleep.

I'm not so nice about it, I just say.."OK, gotta go, bye", and hang up or walk away or whatever, and I'll tell you something for free, it gets easier as you go, after the first couple of times it doesn't bother you at all.

Used to be in a cover band that had an oddball guitarist - you'd say bye, so would he, but he'd then just stand there saying nothing

If in person, do what they did in Ugly Betty. Interrupt them and say you'll be right back, then don't go back hehe.
