I know there is a few of you on here going of to the big wide world of education, sex, beer, parties and somewhere in there a lecture or two.

But I think its time the UK addressed a reality in the Degree system.. and that is the degree young people and Adult students are doing today.

the top degrees are..

1. Law 80,929
2. Pre-clinical Medicine 75,297
3. Psychology 74,151
4. Management studies 56,005
5. Nursing 51,677
6. English studies 51,660
7. Training Teachers 48,374
8. Business studies 46,330
9. History by Period 44,267
10.Social Work 40,875
11.Computer Science 40,415
12.Sports Science 39,961
13.Combs of social studies/bus/law with arts/humanities 38,672
14.Combs of languages with arts/humanities 37,548
15.Drama 37,270
16.Combinations within Business & Admin Studies 36,057
17.Economics 33,651
18.Design studies 33,554
19.Anatomy Physiology and Pathology 30,864
20.Mathematics 30,707

Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering and Languages continue to decline in popularity.

Being an engineer, I am really concerned for the UK's ability to stay up in the top few countries of the world in the engineering and manufacturing world. I know we have a passion for something and want to study it, but if every Monkey is studying the same subject, your chances of getting a job are slim..... where as in the engineering world, there is more than 3 jobs for every person, even today!!

So when your wondering what subject to study, have a look at engineer.. PLEASE!

Medical professions, though popular always will provide you with a job near enough, and with the NHS you've got pretty good job security and can specialise in areas where there is a shortage.

My dad is an engineer, he sometimes talks about his job, sounds like the most boring fulfilling job ever tbh.

What you studying?

Engineering is depending on what area you do.. you could be working on Missile systems, or Manufacturing toys for kids or writing lines of code to inventing the next computer or engine.. there is so much in the engineering world...

My job was fixing aircraft in the military, then I went on to do weapon systems. Then went back to Uni, and now recruit engineers in to all walks of life..

Regret leaving the RAF though..

Politics and Philosophy. Technical things don't interest me in the least. Would rather be a teacher or social worker or something.
