During the early years of my teaching I hated parent conferences. I had no children and was never quite sure how to say, "Your kid is a mess." in a good way. Parents are a bit touchy.
Things finally got so bad with Johnny's swearing I had to call his father. A single, rather difficult man the size of a small truck. The conference started out well, I told him all of his son's good points. Finally (I got the courage because the man was sitting in a little child's chair and looked silly). I said,"Mr. Jones we need to talk about Johnny's foul language. The father listened and finally banged his hand on my desk (I got nervous). He stood up and said,"Just wait, when I get home I'm gonna beat the s$$t out of that F***king little a**hole. With that he left.
Poor Johnny, what did I do? I had to giggle, it was way too sad.

Johnny didn't have a mark on him the next day, so I guess Dad calmed down. His language didn't improve though.

Well, that's food for thought..and often times is the reason why the kid is the way he/she is..

I would hear my mother swear all day long, but if I used the same words, out would come the bar of Palmolive. Have you ever tasted 1940s vintage Palmolive,it is a taste you will never forget!
