I have a well (house).
I had a light in it to keep it from freezing.
The damn bulb burnt out last night.
It got down to 19? last night.
Now I have NO WATER.
So, I now put a heater in there waiting for things to thaw out.

Down at the barn we have to keep a space heater in the water pump box to keep it from freezing. It went out one night and no water the next day til we got a new one in there.

I had that happen to me once. I was by myself at home, taking care of the place b/c my parents were out of town and the damn heater broke down in them middle of january, and the damn pipes froze. luckily they didn't break though, and they thawed out the next day.

Thanks for your concern Allyson.

I put a heater in the well house and I won't know if any pipes are broken until everything thaws out.

Luckily I don't have to go to work until 10am so I should know by then.

I'll keep you posted.

Update:

All is OK now, the heater did the trick. Of course, it didn't until AFTER I went to a neighbor's house and filled up my 55 gallon container, then went around to all the horse's, donkey's, duck's, dog's, and cat's watering holes and filled them up. As soon as I got done doing that and went back into the house to warm up, the kitchen faucet started trickling water then started coming out full force.

Murphy's Law. Oh well, all is back to normal now and I'm happy about that.

It sure is funny how we take simple things like running water for granted!
