If you were to turn on the news and hear reports on the russian/georgian conflict, most people would feel it necassary to support Georgia and bring them aid/military support. I too, at first, thought this was the correct solution. However after researching into the conflict as much as possible, i now see that Georgia provoked the South Ossetian people with a first strike and were provoking russia, knowing in advance they would have support from the countries of NATO. i reccomened everyone view this FOX News clip of 2 South Ossetian American Citizens who were there durring teh Georgian attack... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8XI2Chc6uQ

please feel free to comment on this.. and tell me who you blame and what the US response should be.

Here and there,

It is my understanding that South Ossetia is part of Georgia, and they tried to declare their independence. Apparently no nations have recognized this declaration of independence and they all consider South Ossetia to still be part of Georgia.

I'm not sure what justifies Russia invading South Ossetia and Georgia.

Blame Russia AND Georgia. Pity the people of Ossetia caught in the middle.

I blame Russia for not letting Georgia deal with internal problems on their own.

I know too little about the initial conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia to tell who's to blame for how it's developed.

No, blame Russia.

There is evidence that the Russian government started cyberattacks against Georgia WEEKS before the fighting started!

Georgia attacked a south ossetian rebel group whithin that fightng four Russian peacekeepers were killed. That was what started it. Russia has been backing South Ossetia all along and had warned that if Georgia attacked the south osseians that it would defend them. Which is why some georgians are angry at their government. Ossetian Might have made the first move but Russia has been spoiling for a fight for a long time.

What I'd like to know more about is why South Ossetia couldn't initiate a more peaceful process towards independence - for instance, like Montenegro recently did.
