If criminals have guns we should have guns, if you take guns away from the common people what do you accomplish, will crime suddenly disappear and everyone will be happy and no one will ever get killed by a gun? Instead we'll kill each other with pipebombs (even I know how to make one). Get real.

Exactly, crime won't just vanish, in fact it might even get worse.

Well, good for the UK. But you have to understand that the rest of the world isn't like the UK. Not one thing will work for every country.

The thread is about gun control in the UK. Most people in the UK neither think nor care about gun control in the USA, but if someone wants to claim it doesn't work in the UK because of one news story they should expect plenty of replies disagreeing with them. There was a thread about gun control in the USA not too long ago.

That one never really reached a conclusion, it just fizzled out.

I've pointed out before that gun crime figures even cover illegal possesion and other crimes that don't involve people using guns. Gun laws tightened up lately, especially after the death of 2-year-old Andrew Morton in Glasgow(did I get that bit right?). This easily explains the rise. It's not as significant as the media would have people believe. It's still very hard to get a gun here, legally or illegally. The easiest way to get one is to modify a replica, hence why people are being asked to give them to the police. I blame google and other search engines since that's where people learn to this.

Why blame google for something people choose to read?

They have to look it up first. Hence the blame on google.

And before that I blamed libraries for giving people access to engineering books.

Burn libraries! Burn books! Burn all sources of knowledge!

It's just the sort of stuff you can find if you type in the right words, or the wrong ones, whichever way you want to put it. You can find instructions on bomb-making, on making guns, you can find child porn. Unfortunately, the internet is hard to regulate but still, you can find anything really.
