If I use my Vista disc on my laptop, can i then go and install vista on another laptop???

Yes, but I think its against the TOS. But you can install Vista with the same disk on multiple computers.

Well technically you can install vista on that laptop. but you can't use the same Key

If you use the key on more than one machine then thats illegal.

but you can install vista on another laptop and use the 30 trial

Yes but its against the terms of agreement.

Im just not sure if windows can detect it with its update tool

Ricarde is right Full retail copy can be transferred, not duplicated, OEM is tied to one PC
