When I feel angry for some reason, how can I avoid to take it out on others for no reason?

The fact that you know you are doing it is helpful. So just stop doing it.

What I mean is that, you must feel when you are getting ready to be nasty to someone, so instead of saying something mean, just edit yourself. Close your eyes, count to 10, anything like that. Channel your energy in a different direction.

Or you can be like me and become jaded and then realize that most people are idiots anyway.

Try this: acknowledge that you feel angry about something then try to look at the situation objectively. Is it something you can do something about? Would it help you to talk through the angry feeling with a friend or your mum or someone? Is it really "worth the powder"? (this last comes from the days of duels when a person fired his pistol into the air because his opponent is not worth the powder used to fire the gun). If it's important, what are your options?

Good luck!

Get one of those dummies boxers use, or a punching bag and go nuts on that. Great stress relief.

there was another thread very similar, i was looking for it as there was all kinds of tips in managing anger, unfortunately i cant seem to find it.

Anyhoo.. we always seem to take things out on the people we care most about. It doesnt seem fair but for some reason it is the case. Think about what you have said in anger and how you wish you had approached it much differently.

One way to deal with anger is to not speak to anyone for a while, just say to them to give you 10 mins. If you can go play some loud music and blow off steam.

If you are in a position where you cannot do that, walk away from the agitator. It is perfectly reasonable to walk away and cool off. You can always apologise later and explain calmly that what they had said or done made you very angry but you are calm now.

If you are in a situation where you are becoming angry, remove yourself from the situation and if this is impossible then close your eyes and go somewhere else in your head until you are able to think clearly and calmly.

Anger can be managed, its simply a matter of stopping that automatic impulse to lash out and concentrate on something that will calm you.
