Is what I hear people say to me all the time when I say I'm into it and it pisses me off lol. "A kid could make it in his bedroom" they say.

Oh yeah?

Watch this.

I go to parties where they mix records so there is no break in the music between tunes or change overs. It's a real skill, plus judging the crowd and tempo so it builds nicely

Pretty much everything I listen to could be classed as electronic.
If the me from last year were to hear me say that he would of slapped me

I guess the argument is that, give someone the tools, yes they can make it. Hand the same people a guitar and I garuntee they won't be able to play a dimebag solo. As an instrument takes physical technique to play.

That's my opinion also.

Maybe but when learning an instrument you only learn that particular instrument, with an 'instrument' like the one shown in the video you have to know (or learn) much much more, sound engineering and such. Liam Howlett from the Prodigy is a classically trained pianist.

I think the main reason I think it is because I think music like that is utterly horrifying

It's two different skills. What matters is that something is created that moves people in some way be it to dance emotionally or both.

Well that's your opinion, but all bands use some form of tweaking in production using programs and equipment like that.

Yup but good music in my opinion doesn't need a computer. I'm not gonna get a debate about it anyway I'm basically just old before my time

Bollocks! I've learned a LOT of instruments that the knowledge can be transferred to others. Eg guitar to bass, cello to other stringed instruments, clarinet to other woodwind. As opposed to having a computer, being tech savvy, and having a basic understanding of music theory.

I know where you're coming from but all 'good music' uses computers either in the studio or when played live, except when it's 'unplugged' but you don't really get that with even live bands nowadays.

my brother produces electronic music. mostly deep soulful house, with tribal influences and stoof.
he spends like every waking moment making music haha. definatly a fine art to it. hes signed to a small record label.
but ive heard alot of absolute s*** music which people make by just clicking buttons and thinking it sounds good.

electronic ftw :]]

The vast majority of electronic music producers have a background playing an instrument, I think producing and sampling or having an ear for music and just playing an instrument are very similar.
