It always amazes me that people use the word recreationally along with drug use. You either do drugs or you don't. Just because you only use them once in awhile doesn't mean you're not a user. As substance abuse counselors and two people who battled this; weekend warrior turns into fulltime user very fast. I'm not preaching, I've just seen the consequences. JMO, but I almost lost everything thinking because I was in terible pain it was okay for me to take too many pain pills. Excuse my soapbox; on this subject I'll always have something to say. My youth was not angelic; you can pay a huge price for that. I was very lucky, one arrest would have ruined my life and my dreams.

Ok let's try this then...

I take my lithium, risperdal, wellbutrin, etc. because I have to. I don't use them to have a good time. That would be an example of using drugs. Now if I were popping vicodin every 12 minutes, that would be using drugs recreationally.

I use Mirapex because I shake from head to toe without it. The drugs you mention are not in the category I would call recreational; they're essential. That's an entirely different story. I don't call that using drugs; what you take is to enhance your wellbeing and improve your life. Let's not go down that road. I'm referring to uppers and downers, ritalin to get high, not help with ADHD. I'm a psychologist, I totally understand what you're saying. I thought you were talking about pot, coke, pain med, uppers, downers. Never feel bad for taking what you need. I couldn't get through a day without Mirapex; I have Parkinson's symptoms, not Parkinson's.

Nowadays, it's almost become essential to specify if you're using drugs for health reasons, using drugs recreationally or abusing drugs.

Yes. love green, but off the flips now though, and just about most other things occasionally.

There is strong evidence that the chemical imbalance caused by just one joint of marijuana has direct correlation to bipolar disorder. The brain is not designed to handle this chemical soup .. it is not biosensitive to our brain chemistry and causes aging and severe mood swings. We live in a society of mixed nuts and I firmly believe it has alot to do with soft experimentation .. any use of any hallucinogenic is not going to be beneficial to long term brain longevity .. no one talks about lifestyle and alzheimers but it is likely the leading cause of so many mentally unhealthy middle aged people. Molecules don't lie and the human brain has its limits on what should be ingested by us in order to maintain chemical balance with our brain chemistry .. when you put stuff in your brain that is toxic there will be an outcome and it ain't pretty.

Pot isn't a hallucinogenic for humans unlike animals humans have a receptor to process THC.

I smoke pot sometimes for recreation and most times for personal growth and improvement.

I realise that green is bad for you, but on a bonus it seriously reduces the chance of you getting glaucoma.
