much has been said on many threads regarding other religions, and those who subscribe to them, but distort religious content to suit their own agenda, be it political, or worse.

recent outbursts from muslim cleric, omar bakri however made me smile,

not only does he think islam will take over the world, he is now calling for universal conversion, lol.

Bakri, acting like a character from sci-fi film Mars Attacks, said Muslims must not only spread the word worldwide but also across the galaxy.

agenda?

what do you mean, i have raised issues in threads both of opposing and some supportive of the religion and the freedoms of those who wish to follow such a religious path.

no agenda,

i have concerns whether it will become a negative influence on british society if those aligned with the fanatical side of things have their way, i have concerns on how fast it is growing and having an effect on political changes here in the uk, i have also many concerns with others of different faiths for similar reasons,

but i do not deny anyone the freedom to choose, the freedom to express, no matter who they are, or to what they subscribe too.

Hang on, "don't judge Islam by it's followers"?
Well, how else are we supposed to judge it then?
Are we expected to judge it by a thousand year old book, that is completely irrevelant in this time anyway?

Also, you are a follower of Islam, are you not? If we are not supposed to judge Islam by it's followers... Why are we asking you questions?

i mean to say if some muslims are bad then dont judge islam from them like today media show such muslims as terrorist and they blame islam for it...but this is not truth islam is against terrorism. it is very big sin in Islam to kill an innocent humans...there are many bad ppls in every religion but its not mean that we blame religion for such type of followers..there are many good muslims also...and as i read quran i know it is true book and no one can dare to change it...Allah has taken responsbility of qurann...

quran is old book but still it is not old.. quran is book for every time ,every century...many other relgious books are also old...

i hope u understand my point
take care

I'm with farhana on this one, to the extent that I agree not all Muslims support anti-western terrorism. However, there are fundamental aspects of Islam, and all religions, which I believe are inescapably immoral, and I do not find it at all surprising that some Muslims are able to interpret Islamic scripture in a violent way.

I will also say that I appreciate those muslims who do not judge all so-called 'westerners' by the actions of bigots who are too ignorant to know the difference between a Sunni and Shi'a. It is those people who are likely to use such a divisive word as "westerner", as if it is possible to group even a pair of people under such an ambiguous label, let alone half the globe. Anyone who really understood the damaging influence of religion would not be so quick to lose their independent reason and dogmatically adhere to a common ideology.

Moderate islam is walking a fine line right now because of the surgence of extremists and their ability to inflame even the most moderate muslims. They are applauded for acts against the west and if their acts are not applauded they call for an overthrow of their moderate governments. I would say that the moderates are just as worried of attacks as we are.

Who's "we"? I'm not worried about attacks.

This is what I meant: you, and many others, have rallied together under some kind of common banner defined only by the perception of a common enemy; an enemy conjured almost entirely by the media. There is no "west". It's an imaginary concept.
