well it is for me

over here you have kindergarden through 12th grade (which equals 13 years of schooling)and then if you want to, you can go to college or a trade school

we leave primary school at 11 then finish sceondary school at 16

lets see... we start elementary school at 5 and leave at 11.. then we go to middle school and leave at 14... and finally we go to high school and end at around age 18 (depending on your b-day)
