The last few days have been very active. I've been listening to an owl in the tree outside the bedroom window at night. It's only there for a night or two. Found a box turtle in the front yard. I asked a neighbor to help me cut the grass in the backyard, returned home & found a deer back there. After the neighbor cut the grass, I saw a ground hog feeding in the backyard & later watched it run under the shed.

We've had a mother bear and two of her cubs in our neighbourhood the last few weeks. The conservationists are trying to capture her, and her cubs, to get them back into the woods and away from houses.

That would be too much animal for me. I prefer much smaller critters, especially close to my home.

Ya, it's too much for everyone here too. People are worried about their kids and pets. This is the first time that I can remember a bear being so close.

I have a family of racoons living in a huge douglas fir in the front yard. They come down at dusk, and go wander the neighborhood looking for food. A friend said I should call animal control, because there is a high incidence of rabies in rascoons. I say let them be.
