When I tell people that I've written a book, they usually respond with "wow, that's really cool," or "that's impressive, good job." They have no idea, however, if they would read it and think it sucks or not.
I'm very glad that I completed it because it shows that I can actually persevere with a project like that, but I also learned alot about how not to write a book.
The book has very strong Buddhist messages in it and it is intertwined with the story and characters themselves. It is almost just a huge metaphor for enlightenment. But what I tried to do was put too much of what I wanted to say to the reader into it so that the story suffered.
My next project is a story with a main character modeled after Albert Camus' the Stranger. I'm still developing it and I have a somewhat solid outline, but I really don't know where this one will lead. I just know that all my focus is going into the characters themselves, and not what I would say on a soap box out on the street about my own ideas and thoughts.

We went downtown tonight. Just to drive around, it was way to humid to get out and walk, but Meeting, Calhoun, and Kind Streets are amazing for the architecture and places available to hang out, drink, or shop. The trees hang over the streets and the buildings hiding behind are lit with fire lamps that take you back a hundred years.
Ravenal bridge looks amazing in the morning. I've been trying to go there as often as possible to walk. It's a good workout.
The hardest thing about moving here is that we don't really know anyone yet. We both work a lot, but there isn't anyone I'm interested in hanging out with in my work scene. I've been trying to find some people online to jam with, maybe record something sometime. I've got some music that someone out there might give a s*** about.
