You Yanks dont realise how lucky you are !

Cheap gas, cheap cigarettes and cheap beer and still you complain.

The prices over here are horrendous, petrol / gas is ?5.50pence a gallon on average, a pint of lager averages at ?2 a pint and cigarettes average at ?6 for 20.

How much are you paying now on average ?

Gas has gone down. But cigs forget it!

Almost 9 bucks a pack!

Yeah I know, I am wondering to whether they are not realising how awful it is over here Though I don't care much about the cigarettes, it is plain insane with the booze and what they call gasoline

If I remember correctly it's always been this way. The gas and cigs have been higher over there.
I didn't know about the booze but it makes sense.

It's a perennial whinge by the heavy smokers and drinkers, just how much cheaper cigs and booze is in such as France, hence the "booze runs" on the cheap ferries.

Course, we could always reduce the prices of drink and cigs, but to compensate, we could put up taxes to the level of French ones, then everyone would be subsidising their lifestyles. Can't have it both ways

Similarly, America has cheaper petrol (or gas if you want), but they don't have an NHS to support.

There's a cost for everything. People don't realise it, but no government really wants to have taxes, every government if they could, would abolish all taxes - think how popular they would be - but there are things to pay for. Got to get the money from somewhere.
