I thought Dr Martin Luther King preached about peace, not fighting fire with fire.

Didn't Dr King do more for black people than the black panthers ever did?

Depends on how you look at it. Most will acknowledge that Dr King accomplished far more from his tragic murder then he might have if still living. Sad but quite possibly the truth.
Thus violence was the catalyst that made things happen.
The Black Panthers and AIM and such groups are often accused of violence even though that was not the main purpose or intent. My friends all state they were warriors protecting the people.

You are who you choose to be as long as you refuse to allow yourself to be defined by others.

My full blood grandmother came straight off the reservation in Oklahoma.

She was the Indian - not me.

I'd sound pretty f***in' dumb if I went around calling myself "American Indian". You know, about as dumb as African American sounds from Mofos who ain't never left Detroit...and I got more Indian in me than they got "African" in them.

You realise that you contradicted yourself several times in the above statement!

Nah - you just need to hone your comprehension skills a bit.

Read it again. Read it like it was a statement of mine and then pick out the inconsistancies.

You know there should be a type of Godwin's Law for avoiding responses by calling out spelling errors.

What should we call it?
Charlemagne's Law?

I would quit worrying about what race you are.
People judge you by the friends that you keep.
You can be happy in your life or join a group that will make you spend your whole life hating whitey.
The choice is yours.

you gotta fight fire with fire,

LOL, Go study the USFS practise of trying this fighting fire with fire in the true sense of the words.
You will see that it only causes bigger hotter and more destructive flames 110 % of the time.

Where did you come up with that gem?
Sure there have been some that have gotten away from the fire fighters- but most of the problem stems from NOT burning and people building homes where they should not be built.
That and logging has contributed to conditions that keeps fuel handy for the next spark.
Controlled pro-active burns are a valuable firefighters tool.

That's the whole point of nonviolence, though. You're using the opponent's violence against them. The thought behind it is that, if the opponent sees they're using violence against peaceful people, they'll come to see the evils of their actions and change them. With that in mind, it's no surprise MLK's assassination accomplished so much. It just further proves how effective nonviolence can be.
