The daughter of John Phillips, leader of 1960s group the Mamas and the Papas, has claimed she had a 10-year sexual relationship with her late father. Mackenzie Phillips, a former child TV star, alleges the consensual incest - disclosed in her recently published memoir - began in 1979 when she was 19.

Why would you admit to that?

I don't think she had much of a normal life anyway.

and she's also got a book to sell, thats why were are hearing about it. Personally I would consider the matter a private one, but then I'm not the one with the book to sell.

I don't think her abusive drug addicted father had much of an image to begin with.

That stuff always gets distorted though.

Johnny cash was an abusive alcoholic...yet he's a great man for his music. People look the other way.

John Phillips didn't have the same image that Johnny Cash did though. The impression I got from the people who knew him was that John Phillips was just a d*** whether he was high or sober.
