The seventh century text is not really ancient, but some people insist that it is the reason for the progress in math and science that Middle Eastern scholars made during the so called dark ages.

As far as I can tell the text has nothing that I would call math, but I decided to read it and make a list of the numbers. The text has a lot of numbers and it has fractions, which appear not to sum by modern rules. This should not be surprising. I know that the first century Romans and Jew had different rules for counting, so maybe ancient people had different rules for adding fractions.

The number, seven or seven heavens, is the first number in the text.

You should read about this mathematician, Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Musa al-Khwarizmi. He must have been one of the first who tried to solve the puzzles presented in Quran. His great contribution must have been the use of zero to write numbers. Apparently he did not invent the idea. He read about it in a book by a Hindu mathematician. I suspect that the idea of zero might be as old as the Bronze Age, but at that time, they did not use a symbol. They left a blank space in the clay.
