James Bond: Quantum of Solace

Yeah yeah yeah...New James Bond film title. Here's my question. What the hell is a Quantum of Solace?

Oh well. If the film is anywhere near as good as Casino Royale, I'm not going to give a damn what it's called.

"Quantum of Solace will shoot in Panama, Peru, Chile, Italy, Austria and London", Man it must be nice to be these actors! Their frequent flyer miles must be pretty maxed out.

Okay seriously, what does that title mean

agreed. that name doesn't fit with the others at all. but hopefully it will be just as good as the last.

I suspect they intend it to mean "a very tiny, miniscule bit of solace." Apparently this movie picks up literally hours after the first movie ended and the title refers to Bond's brief moment between missions. Or something, maybe.

The 22nd Bond movie has been launched. Quantum of Solace is based on a short story by Ian Flemming that appeared in his collection For Your Eyes Only. For the first time ever it is a direct sequel to a Bond movie, in that it picks up where Casino Royal left off, with Bond chasing the killers of his love. The title is an odd one. Quantum meaning a required or allowed amount and Solace meaning comfort or consolation in a time of distress or sadness. At the launch Daniel Craig said ??At the end of the last movie his [Bond] heart?s been broken and he doesn?t have that quantum of solace, he doesn?t have that ? closure on what happened in his life and he needs to find out.? Could be some sort of codename for a death ray some... villian set up in Austria... and, uh he... You know, I have no idea, but it was a good gess.
