How long does it take to get a passport?

Have any of you been able to get one for a quick trip out of the country? I've heard it takes 4-6 weeks but I need to leave soon.

Um when I got mine fall 2008, it took 10 days from the time I dropped it off at the post office.
Current times may vary though.

Mine took 4 weeks almost exactly. They're very accurate about the time frame they give you.

Current wait is 4-6 weeks, you can pay extra expedition time though. I did not.

That would work out okay. Where did you go to get the paperwork? I think some countries require vaccinations before one can visit.

You could always drive to the passport office and do it in person. Don't know how far that would be for you.

(In Florida, you used to be able to do this in person in Miami).

If you have it expedited you can have it in 2-3 weeks, but it'll cost a little more.
