For those of you who don't know I'm expecting a baby boy in July. I'm planning on a home birth, but of course these things don't always go to plan so I'm trying to get my hospital bags ready.

I've got one for Jake and one for me and I'm putting in everything we would need for a 3/4 day stay in case I need a section or something goes wrong *touch wood*

So far I have;

20 nappies
a packet of baby wipes
sudocream
baby powder
cotton wool
4 days worth of baby grows/body suits etc
3 blankets
3 hats
2 pairs of scratch mits
a coming home outfit
6 bibs

maternity pads
a pair of breast pads
shower gel
moisturiser ( )
lip balm
a nightie

On the list of things to get are;

emergency snacks (for energy
more breast pads
another nightie/pj set (for after the birth if I'm stuck at hospital)
more scratch mits
nappy bags (the ones you put them in when they're used)
travel size shampoo/conditioner/toothpaste/deodorant
tooth brush
disposible camera (should anything go wrong with the digi one)
socks/slippers.

Is there anything I'm drastically missing? Also what does the baby do for food (I'm probably not going to boobie feed)

Its been a while for me but they give you the milk I think. We got them in little individual bottles.

I would take in a lot of food. Hospital stuff is rubbish.

Also an eye mask for when you want to get a quick nap through the day.

I didn't see panties on that list..

And the hospital will provide nappies of their own, wont' they?

Looks to me you have everything covered.

What kind of home birth are you having?

My mate had one a few months ago and she has recovered so much quicker than she did with her first who she had in hospital.

disposabel panites are best for hospital, then you donthave to start washing when you get home. eashable breast pads are a goddsens cos the disposaible ones aere horrible and scrunchy but ok for hospital.
baby milk is provided and so are blankets etc.

HOPEFULLY a home water birth provided everything is ok. Atm I've had a fairly complicated pregnancy with gallbladder issues and infections etc etc which was not good!

I'm terrified of hospitals tbh, I really really ahte them, which is my biggest driving factor in having the baby at home. Plus women did it for millions of years out side of hospitals so why the hell can't I?

I agree and am sure if there were any problems your midwife has already took precautions?

She's leaving it

She said she might leave it right up until I go into labour, which does not help me neurotically plan for what's happening.

yeah, hence the pretty mammoth hospital bag list. I've scared a girl on a pregnancy forum by posting the same thread. She hasn't started hers yet and didn't know she needed to yet. Poor sod is only 22 weeks.
