Hi,

I'm a sufferer of schitzophrenia. Keep hearing voices. ONne is of a woman and another of a man. they just repeat everything - my thoughts and everything else. They are really annnoying and leave me feeling exhausted.

Is there anything that can be done to stop the voices? They are destroying my life.

James.

dr's cpns, mental health teams. the only way to get help. worry when the voices are telling you to do dangerous things like hurt yourself or other people

I sometimes wonder if those hearing voices are really experiencing communications from spirits, and it is just assumed it is a malfunction of the brain.

Are you on medication? Is it not working?

Best thing to do would to go see a doctor. Especially if the voices tell you to do dangerous things, like someone said earlier, to yourself or anyone else. If the doctor has diagnosed you and given you medication, you really have to go back and say that it's not working.

The other option would be perhaps to see a spiritualist or even an exorcist if you believe in those kinds of things.

Hi,

Thanks for all of your help and assistance on this matter. Never thought about a spiritualist or and exorcist before. Perhaps that could be the answer. Yep, my medication clearly does not work at the moment.

PS - Not sure about drilling holes in the top of my head though!

It would all depend relly on what you believe in, personally I wouldn't go to a spiritualist or an exorcist, but if you find meds arent helping at all, whats the harm in trying?

Do you ever acknowledge the voices back, even though they just repeat what you say? B/c I think that would be the worst thing you can do. I wonder if seeing a psychiatrist would help?

You need help, period. There are meds that can control those voices. I would suggest getting help from a Mental Health Doctor asap. The sooner you begin treatment the sooner you will find relief. You are not alone there are many many people who also suffer from this and live good productive lives. This is not something you can take care of yourself because it will not go away by itself. May God Bless You.

Medication for schizophrenia is a bit of a lucky dip. What drug combinations/dose works for some people has no effect on others and some people find the side effects to be quite severe. Depends on the type of schizophrenia as well.

My advice: keep seeking help through whatever means you choose, and persevere with it. If the meds aren't working go straight back to your GP/psychiatrist. Persistence is the key here. Don't suffer in silence - talk to anyone and everyone you feel comfortable with.

I've looked after many people with this problem, and although I don't have an idea of what you experience, I have seen the effects and know about the stigma and how terrifying it can be.

I hope it works out for you.
