Sometimes I see little girls from about 6 months old - 3 year olds having ear piercings (no more than jsut the normal piercing) but would you do it? What do you think about it?

It doesn't seem like too much effort/work, like, go over it with a cotton ball and alcohol 2-3 times a day.

I personally think it looks a bit tacky, but I suppose it's better to get it done earlier so it doesn't hurt as much.

I think its fine for like a 2 year old and older. But a six month old? Personally, I got my ears pierced at 2 1/2 years.

Personally I dont like to see it. I think its not nice to see, its pain they dont need to go through, hard and painful to keep clean after and I think something like that should be the childs choice when they are old enough to make it.

Well considering a 1 or 2 year old doesn't care too much for fashion and cannot make the decision for themselves, I would think it was a waste of time.

My son wanted his ear peirced at nine, my daughter never wants hers done..

Their body, their choice wouldn't you think?

Or does that rule not apply to infants?

I would not do my child's ear until they were old enough to take care of it on their own.
Of course in my family there is about a 50/50 chance of bad reactions to piercing and I would not put a small child through the risk of it going badly. Its not pleasant. Actually ear amputation might have been funner.
If s/he wants it and is old enough to deal with it fine.

I think it's disgusting. It looks horrible and cheap. I did a thread on this a while ago.

Depending on how her father felt, I might get my daughter's ears pierced.
Probably after she turns 1 though. 1 and a half most likely.
Under 1 for me is a little tooooo young.

Great, why not go the whole hog and get a tattoo as well or maybe a prince albert!

That is true, I just figured it would be easier to take care of when their younger.

But little ones do fall a lot and you don't want them getting ripped out.

A tattoo is far different than an ear piercing. That's just asinine...

Does seem like a bit of an effort, but each to their own I guess.

I suppose having your babys ear pierced cold also be useful. A parent could attach a small chain to the ring and attach it to a wall so the baby can only move a set distance. If the parent then ensured that there was no potential harm within the range of the chains length .... they could spend all day on the sofa watching daytime tv.

Now that's active parenting in action!
