I bet you never woulda guessed that, huh?

So I own a motorcycle and I have my learner's permit. I signed up for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation's Basic Rider Course. Passing the BRC (a written knowledge test and an on-bike skills test) counts as the road test for getting your motorcycle license, not to mention teaches you all about how to ride safely and giving a ton of experience and coaching.

So anyway, I finished my class today, and I passed. I did very well, in fact. Well, as it turns out, you don't leave class with the road test waiver. No. The MSF sends the paperwork concerning your completion to the DMV. They do this immediately.

The DMV then takes 4-6 weeks to process the paperwork and mail the official road test waiver, which you then need to take down to the DMV yourself to get your license.

So now I have a bike and a permit and no license so I can't ride it

BTW, if you ride a bike, or are thinking about buying a bike, and you have not taken the BRC, TAKE IT. You will learn a ton of s*** that you don't already know and you will get to practice s*** that will save your life.

Yup, that's my bike! There's a larger version at https://jonnythan.com

It's actually got a slight electrical problem but that should be fixed soon.

It's actually 20 years old. Only has 9000 miles but is in fantastic condition.
