Should Parliament be dissolved, in the light of the MP expenses fiasco?

I say a definite yes because many have shown themselves to be incompetent and worse.

..but I recall the exact thing happened to the Conservatives in the nineties, bringing them to their knees. This government came to the rescue with Blair and Brown saying they'd be 'whiter than white'-not that I believed them

you wouldn't achieve anything by the dissolution parliament.

No,
They didn't really seem to do anything against the rules.
Not as a whole anyway.

The problem is with what they have been allowed to do, which I'm glad to see is being addressed ...if not satisfactorarily. lol

You have to change the rules, rues that have evolved slowly over decades and for whom nobody or no party is directly responsible.

They should know not to spend money on things like gardening, furnishings and adult movies. It's a disgraceful abuse of expenses for them to be doing the job of being MP's.

It's ok to claim for travel and rent or mortgage fees-but that's it-a basic allowance.

Nothing we can do them for anyway, and they know it.

But we all know splitting your second home allowance between two homes is being 'creative'. It's a loophole.

Have I lost confidence in them? For the most part I never believed much of what most of them said anyway.

Gordon's policies are like Zippy one minute, and Stalin the next. But he's rubbing his hands with glee at the nationalsation of the banks. A committed socialist's dream come true. This is the angle the papers aren't covering.

"Ah ah I've got a policy!"

No, it wouldn't make things any better and it's always been a given that politicians are corrupt, why are people so surprised?

Technically most of them haven't broken the law either.
I think everyone should just say they're sorry, give it back and then move on, the country must have bigger things going on that they need to sort out.

Well we all knew alot of 'em were bent. All that money and power.

I want to see the lawbreakers punished. If we let them get away with it, what'll be next?

If they were my employees, I'd say, alright you can have the rent or mortgage on a flat or house and your fares. And that's it.

Even maintenance I would have thought would be covered by their wages. I'd never think of claiming for something like that. We're not expected to pay for their lives, just the rent/mortgage and the fares/basic meals.

I'm never going to be a socialist, but one labour chap I do admire for his socialist principles, claimed the absolute minimum he could.

So a couple of MPs have been misusing public money on a small scale and you want to disband the entire organization? Seriously?

Many of them were corrupt, however this is not a reason to disolve the government, however many people should be fired, the idea of the speaker being used as a scapegoat isnt fooling anyone

No, it would be pointless.

They have ALL been at it, so what's the point of a general election.
Labour of course deserve to be kicked out for many reasons - but not this one, and that will come at the next election.

As for the speaker, he was a biased ineffectual speaker anyway - he won't be missed

A bit more than a couple.

No, I thought it a bit strange to get rid of the Speaker. If him, why not the rest? Depends what he's done I suppose.

Have some real leaders in there who know what they're doing. Now is a great time to have a good clearout and make some examples-for the sake of our democracy.

Where's the professionals who know how a country should work and aren't scared of doing what it takes?

Let's have more parties and more choice; not the same 2 1/2 horse race we've always had.

We don't need an election; we need a UKIP takeover to get us the hell out of Europe.

Depends to what degree. I know a lady for Luton I think, split her second home between two-in effect making a third, now that's cheeky!

If you're going to sack one for something, sack the rest. It's gotta be fair.

Yeah but then we'd be left with no Parliament, that wouldn't really work.
