Last film with Heath Ledger in it, apparently his performance is a knock-out, worth seeing just for his performance do you think?

It was absolutely brilliant.

Bar none, the best superhero film ever. Nothing comes close. I am amazed that I'm saying this, but it rates as one of the best crime dramas ever - right up there with The Godfather and Goodfellas.

It is easily among the best movies I've ever seen. Up there with American Beauty and Pulp Fiction. It is brilliantly conceived and acted. Heath Ledger's Joker is one of the most compelling, disturbing, psychotic characters ever to appear on film, and his function as more of a poser of moral dilemmas than a true villain blurs the lines between good and bad, hero and villain.

You must see it. Incredible film.

Do you have to see the other Batman movies before seeing this one?

Cause I wanna see what all this fuss is about.

But I dunno if I'll understand the movie

As good as Pulp Fiction and American Beauty you say? Well those are two of my favourite films.

In that case I may have to go see it.

It would really help to see Batman Begins, because that film gives you a good sense for the dark past of Bruce Wayne and why he ends up looking quite psychotic himself.

Batman Begins is a very good film in its own right. It's nowhere near the masterpiece that The Dark Knight is, but IMO you should see it first.

Here are some of Roger Ebert's words for it. Keep in mind that Ebert is usually a fan of artsy fartsy movies and generally eschews and ridicules big-budget Hollywood movies.

"?Batman? isn?t a comic book anymore. Christopher Nolan?s ?The Dark Knight? is a haunted film that leaps beyond its origins and becomes an engrossing tragedy. It creates characters we come to care about. That?s because of the performances, because of the direction, because of the writing, and because of the superlative technical quality of the entire production."

He gave it four out of four stars.
