on the news it is now estimated that 120 supporters of benazir bhutto have been killed in the bomb that went off in karachi yesterday. there were 2 explosions, one of which was a suicide bomber. it is believed that the group responsible for the atrocity is either loyal to the taliban or al quaida.
benazir bhutto has long put off her return to her homeland for fear of such reprisals, her father having himself been assassinated in similar circumstances. her unpopularity with fundamentalist groups in pakistan being put down to her close ties with the west and the way in which the US and the UK put pressure on mussharaf to aid bhuttos re-entry into pakistani politics.
again muslim fundamentalists have shown their utter barbarism and brutality in opposing any kind of democracy.
i just hope that benazir will stay in pakistan and stand for election for obviously there are a great many moderate pakistanis who love and support her.

I agree but im worried that taking a stand will get her killed.

She is a great woman with many good things to say, she would maybe better serve her people outside of pakistan staying alive and raising awareness etc.

Lets hope the fundamentalists dont get their wish

The number of her supporters must now decrease, don't u think? There are also about 500 injured as i heard.
I't's quite intriguing how she managed to survive. It was a big blow!

benazir has many backers in western countries - that being the big problem for islamic fundamentalists!
also there is support for her in many other muslim countries amongest moderate muslims.

Im intrigued by what you mean by that.

Is it because a western country support her that you dont or is it because of what she stands for and believes in? Also do you think that the bombing was justified?

I'm against killing for any reason!
But i kinda understand waht they're feeling.
The americans always come with big plans and as saviours and stuff
They claim they want to fight terrorism but all they do is feeding it
They have no interest in peace cz that will make Al Qaida or any othe terrorist group available only for them. It's their way to keep them busy!
This is not against the people but against america's politics.

babylon, your idea of politics amazes me.
if a country does not have anything to do with america it has got to have other allies, so who would you suggest, russia, iran, china?
no country can get by without having allies, and maybe you don't like american foreign policies, neither do i, but just because benazir bhutto has allies in america doesn't mean that she agrees with their policies entirely either.
no country is an island, even when it is geographically an island.
your comments strike me as naive.
