Are these forums really serious - oder?

I have actually been using a German forum at another site for quite awhile now, and find it very useful. Am I missing something, or are the members here just fooling around? I only see one main page of German forum posts.

We have lots of forums here. The German forum is not the only one that members post in, so replies might be slow.

Most folks dont speak German im reckonin. i only know one sentance "Ein Volk, Ein Riech, Ein Fuher". That mustached fellow said it.

Adolf something or other. Nice guy. Though when i went on holiday to Austria, they didnt like him so much. Said he was "the worst austrian in history" i said "he's the only austrian in history"...im not going back there in a hurry.


I really should know more German seeing as im half German, ah well.

The forums are intended as a serious place for discussion about all things German, but as jmo points out, we have few German speakers. Hence it tends to degrade to "tell me some German swear words".

If you can bring a more serious note to the forum, please do. It would be great to have discussion and help for those learning German, or maybe something that will encourage them to do so.

Thanks for the link! I am actually interested in German-English language forums. I like to help learners when possible, and I often have questions of my own.

Judging by the quick replies, I take back my first impression. It looks like there are actually some real people hanging out here.

BTW - on the topic of German swearing, there is actually a book available. It is called (appropriately) 'Schiesse! The REAL German You Were Never Taught in School' - ISBN #0452272211.

I have it on my Amazon wishlist. It was actually recommended to me by a native German speaker at another forum site.

Funny! That was one of the first books I bought for fun after I started learning - thought it would be a good idea, just in case! I still refer to it when I have been with my German friends.
