You walk down the small alleyway of a small shopping district when you turn the corner and see a slight glimmering of an object. Distracted from your phone in your hand, you look up slowly and see the stores display window and mannequins posing with fitted dresses on. This doesn’t phase you at all but due to boredom you decide to give the small store a chance. As you walk towards the store you realize that it is in fact a thrift shop. Noticing that you are a little more interested in approaching the doors, without any hesitation.

You open the glass door, and a faint smell of worn out vanilla perfume hits your nostrils. Admiring the fragrance you look around and there is no one yet in site. Seeing this as the perfect opportunity to have some alone time from the crowds you faced from the streets before the alleyway. Deciding to look around at the lonely options of video game cartridges, you see that there is only the overrated options of games for the Nintendo 64. Shrugging this off you start to head towards the door when you hear a small creaking, just loud enough to catch your attention. It must have been from the owner of the shop that finally could have heard its customer. Though in further inspection, it wasn’t, it was the door that led into the storage room. That’s strange, you didn’t see that door while exploring around the small store. That’s what it was, a small store with not much to offer. With your curiosity driving you mad, you decide to approach the wooden door. Noting that it is very ragged and hasn’t been repaired in quite some time, you feel a bit tensed up as you reach for the edge of the door. When you push it open it makes only the slightest creak before fading away along with any other focus you had at the moment. Your focus is now on the fabric that is laying on top of the only cardboard box in the room. It looks as though it is a dress, could it be? It couldn’t, though it is and this is when you should have turned back.

You make way to the dress and gently pick it up trying so hard not to disturb the surroundings or make the least bit of sound. Before you know it you see yourself walking towards the front of the store and out the doors. Thinking to yourself, you question why you just stole something that may have been valuable to the owner. But you shrug it off as it being just a dress and it is so simplistic, that no one would even notice it was gone. A loud beeping noise shakes you from your focus on the dress to realize that you are late for your dinner date. You begin running to the nearest public facility and notice you are not in the right attire for a date. In a rushed state you just decide that the dress will do the job. You begin to undress and slowly slide on the dress, you are in shock that it fits you perfectly. It has a reminiscing appeal to it, with the subtle hint of cleavage. You are now a hottie, and have the confidence that you once had when you were a teenager. You do a quick brush up on your makeup and a smell check as you run out the door. Looking at your watch you see that it is only five minutes till your date will be at the restaurant and most probably impatient.

You stroll up to the doors of the fancy restaurant, and the doorman welcomes you inside, while complimenting you of your gorgeous features. At this point you are blushing, seeing as though you never had been complimented in your life. Walking up to the host you whisper in his ear, reservation of Hopkins, and she nods her head and points to a lone table in the corner of the restaurant. Though you don’t care because you see the man that your friend has set you up with, so everything is okay. Making your way to the table is easy now and you sit down gracefully and say your greetings to your date. He smiles and you are now at ease, feeling a bit more acceptance and comfort being here. Hours begin to pass by as they eat and converse about their mutual likings, and daily activities. They begin to hit it off after a while and he asks you if you’d like to join him in going back to his place. You kindly reject his offer and say that your roommates would be worried about your wellbeing if you went off with a strange man. He is understanding of this yet you can see the sadness and frustration in his eyes. You shrug this off as sexual frustration and begin to walk back to your apartment. On the way back you notice that most of the street lights are either flickering or are burnt out completely. Though you decide to press on and ignore the entire fact of the abnormal, so you put on your headphones and listen to soothing music that will put you at ease for the moment. Little do you know that you aren’t alone right now, but of course how could you know. So you are now at the entrance to the apartments and things are starting to get a little bit odd. There are no cars in the parking lot and it is absolutely pitch black and silent. There is no way you could ignore this, though you think to yourself if it would be worth it to press on or call for help. Persuading yourself that it would be more harm than worth, you begin to sprint through the gate using the glow from your cellphone as the only light source. Paranoia is beginning to take place in your mind as you wander through the deserted parking lot, seeing nothing, and no form of life at all. After minutes of wandering the parking lot you can make out what appears to be stairs, with some hope you begin to climb them and notice that your apartment room is in fact right at the front. Now you begin to run up the stairs hoping that your roommates will be in the room laughing and giggling like they normally do, by god do you so desperately want that.

You now reach the door and try to dig in your pocket to find the key card, when you realize that the door has been left open. How odd you think to yourself as you slowly begin to push the door open. Though this is where things begin to get very nightmare worthy, you reach for the light and see that the carpet has been ripped up from the floor itself. How strange this is, from what it looks like there is a trap door in the middle of the floor, though there is clawing marks around it that seem years old. Thinking to yourself if this would be worth the look or would it be the end of your life, you reluctantly pull on the latch of the door. What lies behind that shakes you to the core, you see the bones of an adult and a child assuming what is to be a small family. You begin to scream out of fear as the lights come on by themselves, which bring you into a panic attack in which you are having a hard time recovering from.

Soon after you pass out and realize you are now in a dreamlike surrounding, though you are appearing in the same room as the one you passed out in. Though now it is lighted dimly, and you are wearing the clothes you had on before you put on the dress for your date. You look around on the floor to see if you could see the carpet that was torn off or in more importance, the bones of the small family you found under the trap door. Though to your surprise the carpet is back to its normal place, and you don’t see anything out of the ordinary. You begin to slowly walk around the apartment and search each room for your roommates, though you begin to realize they are all here but they are sound asleep. You feel at peace and begin to lay back on your couch, not noticing the shadow forming in the corner behind the sofa. After a moment of boredom you switch on the television and watch one of your favorite cartoon shows that you adored when you were once a child. Giving a nostalgic glossy feeling, you totally avoid your surroundings and outside noises, which you only focus on the television. After minutes and hours pass the shadow is fully formed and has been inching to you ever so slightly while your attention has been stirred away…….Wait what was that you think as you can slightly hear a little bit of whispering going throughout the room. You abruptly stand up and realize something strange has been happening and something has changed since you turned on the television. While your wild eyes look around your instincts tell you to turn around and check the last area your eyes could not have covered. Quickly jerking yourself back, you see a black fog only inches away from your face, ready to make the next move. Your only instinct now is to scream and you do it pretty well, because after that the fog disappeared and you are left in the room again fully lit. You let your breath catch up and notice and glowing white door posted in the middle of your front room. You sigh and feel the door beckoning your attention and drawing you closer to it, as if some sort of pull is forcing your feet towards the object. Your mind begins to wander as you lose control of your feet, and you question how this has just came to happen today of all days. You finally reach the door and the knob after a few steps from your now weakened legs, and use your right hand to reach for the knob. You slowly twist the knob as you notice how cold it was, the door now swings open and you can feel the cold from within the room. Feeling as though there is no need to worry you see the body of yourself lying on the floor, as if you were dead. Shaking your head and full of denial you run over to the body, grabbing it at the shoulders you are yelling pleading for this not to be tr---

You suddenly wake up on your apartment floor, and realize that it’s morning again and the dress is gone. So you conclude that your roommates probably stole it from you while you passed out on the floor due to tiredness. So you stand up and begin to get ready for the new day, seeing that it was already midday again. Thinking to yourself that you should go back to the thrift shop and apologize for stealing the dress, and pay the owner. So on your way out the door you notice that it is pretty much a beautiful day and there is crowds of people outside again, with children playing, and birds chirping. Standing there you admire how much happiness is around you, right before walking through the same alleyway as the previous day. You look around the street that follows it and notice something that is off, the thrift shop that was there yesterday, now looks abandon. Like there was no one even inside there in years, which would explain why the old videogame cartridges would be inside.

You begin to gulp and stutter as you walk hesitantly towards the building, noticing that the windows were all boarded up. Though the door to the building is still in contact and unlocked, you decide to investigate the abandoned store to find out some answers. When entering the building the fragrance that was once there is no longer there, but replaced with a stench. Not a body odor stench but one of something rotten, like something has been left out of the fridge kind of rotten. This doesn’t bother you any bit though, and you press on to find the door for the room you found your prize. To your surprise the door is still wide open from yesterday’s opening, and you peer inside. You feel as though your heart is about to stop, because what is inside the room is a naked corpse of a female that looks all done up. In the same exact spot as where the cardboard box was, with the dress on top of it…..
Though now there’s a corpse in the same exact spot, as you begin to panic and run out the door you begin to look back as you see the rotting woman peer out of the corner of the room. Not looking back you dart your way back to the apartment, and ask your roommates in a very wild-like tone about the dress. You nearly die of shock as they respond.
"What dress?" .

For those who do TL;DR:

Woman goes for a walk down an alleyway, sees a thrift shop, steals a dress. Wears dress on date, date goes good, and turns down sex. Then she gets stalked by the apparition of some sorts. Gets to apartment complex and sees no one is there, not even roommates. She passes out on floor after finding the bones of a small family. (Which is an illusion) Then has a dream of roommates sleeping, black fog, and a door back to reality. She wakes up midday and goes back to the store to apologize for stealing dress, then finds out it's abandoned and that a rotting corpse of woman is in there. While walking out the corpse reanimates. Then she runs home and asks roommates about a dress, and is shocked to hear "What dress?"
