If we'd gotten all the tickets we applied for, it would have cost us nearly £3'000. As it was, the athletics (2 sessions), swimming and gymnastics tickets we did get come to just over £800. Money well spent, especially if we see a British gold medal..!!
We've given our tickets for the swimming to my my sister so she can take her daughter (my niece) to the Games. She was so upset that she didn't get any tickets for the Games, particularly as her brother (my nephew) is being taken by his dad to see the football at Wembley on Sunday when GBR play UAE.
We have tickets for the gymnastics on Sunday 5 August and may even see a British medal in the men's Pommel Horse if Louis Smith repeats his performance from Beijing.
We have tickets for the Athletics on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th and will see events such as the final of the 110 metres hurdles, the early rounds of the 200 metres, the javelin and 5000 metres qualifying rounds and the pole vault. I'm not sure if we will see any British medals in all that, but it will be an amazing experience just the same.
It was a bit of a wrench, giving up the tickets for the swimming, but poor Rebecca is swimming crazy and dreamed of going to the Games. When we got tickets and she didn't, we simply couldn't hang on to them and then tell everybody what a great time we had, knowing she was disappointed. I hope she has a fantastic time.
