I just got back from a run and realized I have never gone jogging in the cold before. I actually prefer it because I don't feel overheated like I do in the summer, which is a large part of what discourages me from running consistently.

That being said, I probably should have worn more than just an underarmour short sleeved shirt and shorts. I can't find my long sleeved underarmour, but I think that would have been too warm for me tonight given it was only about 50F out. When it drops to the 40s I could probably manage it.

Aside from layering up which I'm pretty familiar with from snowboarding, any advice for dealing with breathing in the cold air? My throat was a little sore when I got home.

When I said layer up I meant more that layers are good for keeping heat trapped in, and that the base layer should wick sweat away and definitely not be something like cotton.

But uh, yeah, I'd rather stop two seconds to take a layer off than freeze my butt off.

cotton soaks up the sweat and ull soon become very cold, where as wicking tops (non cotton) absorbs the sweat and then it evaporates from the material and keeps all dry

...I'm not questioning your authority.

It usually not advisable to wear cotton as a baselayer because when it gets wet it stays wet. If you wear something like underarmour, dryfit, or some other material that is made to wick the sweat away from your body it will keep you dryer and warmer.

Try something made with some sort of microfiber, you'll never go back to cotton
