I'm new here and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me with this algebra problem? I don't even understand the wording, never mind the algebra involved in solving it.
The problem is:
If a car is traveling 60mph on a slippery road, then its stopping distance, D in ft can be calculated as D=3600/60*1x where x is the coefficient of friction between the tires and road and 0<x< or equal to 1. Multiply and simplify the formula for D. Compare the stopping distance on an icy road with x=0.2, and on dry pavement with x=0.8.
No matter how hard I try I just don't get algebra and it's killing my grades. I would appreciate any help.

Hi! I don't usually do anyone's homework, but I would be happy to direct you to where this sort of problem is explained. Why not take a look!?

How do you do that? <click here to see>
