Our senses are how we receive information from the world around us, which is then processed by our brain.
Many people have lost the use of one or more of their senses, and have learned to compensate with the others.

Which sense is most important to you, and why?

The sight. Imagine what it would be if you could taste, hear and feel, but you couldn't see. You hear something and you start imagining what it could be. I find it really scary and I'd rather give away my other senses but to keep my sight.

Hmmm...as a future painter, I'd say sight.

But I heard that with out the sense of touch, you can't even move. You're whole body would be paralized...True?

I have to agree with you on that one, I had undiagnosed bad eyesight for years when I was a child, and it was amazing when I got my first pair of glasses and saw things in focus instead of a blur.

Sight for me.

Being that I have kids, it would kill me not to be able to see them grow up. Their weddings, grandchildren, etc.

It would suck not to be able to hear them laugh and such but it would kill me more not to be able to see the ones I loved.

Good question. I will have to defer to someone more knowledgeable about that.

Jonnythan, are you around?

Not as far as I know. You would be paralyzed to different degrees if something happened to different areas of your spinal cord though.

There are a small percentage of people that have a condition (Congenital Insensitivity To Pain) that they don't feel any pain. Not sure if they can feel anything at all when touching stuff. If they break a bone or burn themselves, they don't feel it.

I agree with what most people here are saying, sight is the most important to me. I want to see my 3-year-old daughter, who brings great joy in my life, grow-up.

Would have to be sight. Life would just be so much harder without it; and the many visual stimulations I recieve from sight, as a writer..hearing is a close runner up tho.

Logically, I would think touch would be the obvious choice. Without out it, we would not be able to feel physical pain which and our bodies would not respond well to thinks such as heat, cold or even getting cut.

Pain is a response from our bodies to let us know that we need to back off, so with out touch, I would be bruised all over all the time from lack of touch.

Though ultimately I think I couldn't live without taste. God life would be so dull if couldn't enjoy food. Its an extremely unique experience and can only be matched by smell..and both of those go hand in hand.

------
Though if i had to choose between sight and hearing, I couldn't live without hearing. I can easily fill in the pictures in my mind through imagination a lot better than imagining a sound. Imagination I believe goes further with sight than hearing...so I couldn't live without hearing.
