I don't think they differentiate between a Hezbollah militant and a civilian. In fact, I know they don't.

Yeah he was a bad man but he didn't deserve to be killed or tortured for what he did.

I think if the OP is true then that's a shameful way for the soldiers to behave.

I can be a pretty heartless C**t at times. And to be brutally honest. I find the fact that they made him watch it absolutely F'n Hilarious!

I quite agree with you actually, Sister. The execution of Saddam was carried out by Iraqis, and I suppose with what he had put them through for many years, it's understandable (though NOT condoned) that there was a strong sense of "Payback Due". From what I saw of the execution on TV, Saddam had the sort of justice he had dispensed to many of his own people and as I say, I don't condone that, but I can see where it was coming from.

As for showing the South Park movie to him before his execution, I that was petty, vindictive and put the soldiers who did it to shame. They had no cause to behave in such a way. I think it's not unreasonable to have expected the soldiers to have behaved with more discipline and restraint. Frankly, they lowered themselves, although I doubt very much that they'd care about that.

We can josh and joke about it now, after the event because what we say now is completely inconsequential but in truth it does leave a bad taste.
