Underneath the Cyanide Sun....

So I have a window air conditioner because my house is too old to have central.

There's 6 settings:

Lo, Med, Hi Fan *pretty much meaning it'll cool you down like a fan.

Lo, Med, Hi Cool *the actual air conditioning settings

Well, normally on Lo Cool I can get it pretty cold. I'll wear shorts and be frezing. Well now, it's not getting cold in here.

It's been running since Friday or Saturday.

I now have it on Med Cool, and it feels no different.

Idk if it's worn out, or... I jsut don't know.

So what's up with it?

Should I just turn it off and let it cool down?

Has the outside of it iced up? If so, turn it off and let it melt before turning it back on. Otherwise, it might need to be recharged. AC's contain freon, or some other nasty coolant, and are supposed to be a closed system, but the coolant does leak out and evaporate over time. Sometimes they've got to flush out the system and put in new coolant.

No, the outside's not frozen. Idk. It's like,

OH WAIT! Yay! I turned it back on and it's getting cool again.

Seems that that conditioner may not be recycling. Put the control on low and WAIT. If it recycles ---> fine. Else get another thermostat. Been in the business!
