graduation gift?

I need help with a high school graduation gift. I had been planning on giving my little brother a gift card to his favorite clothing store, but his post graduation plans have changed.

Before, he was planning on doing the typical college route. Now, he's joining the Navy. His induction ceremony was a couple days ago and he had SEALS try-outs yesterday. Haven't talked to him yet to see how those went.

Would the gift card still be okay? I don't really want to get him something that's going to be useless for the next 4+ years. Any ideas?

I know the gift card is somewhat impersonal, but he and I have very different tastes and I don't trust myself to pick out something he'd like.

If anything, I would get him an American Express gift card. That way he could go anywhere, to any store and get what he likes/needs/wants.

Yeah, you can never go wrong with cash (or plastic cash).
